A little won't hurt? Alcohol advice in pregnancy

While many news outlets are running headlines that say small amounts of alcohol are fine in pregnancy, that is not what the study says. So put down your wine glasses for a minute and consider this warning from the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists:

Drinking during pregnancy: the jury may be out for researchers, but ACOG recommends that pregnant women avoid alcohol

Alcohol

March of Dimes Blog, News Moms Need says:
"Alcohol during pregnancy is a no-no! Alcohol, even in small amounts, may harm your baby during pregnancy. Still, there are some people who believe that one or two drinks can’t hurt you. You may have even heard about a recent study from England suggesting that a little alcohol during pregnancy might be fine. But there really is no safe amount of alcohol for you to have during pregnancy. Every woman is different and alcohol affects each woman differently. While one drink might be okay for one woman during pregnancy, it could have devastating consequences for another. So, it’s best for both you and your baby to stay away from alcohol during pregnancy."
This doesn't mean you can't enjoy a refreshing (but healthy) beverage. A fruit smoothie is a wonderful choice. Here's a Chocolate Strawberry Smoothie and a Berry Berry that slips in a healthy carrot - from smoothiesrecipe.com:

“The mixture of chocolate and strawberries has a better combination that resulted wonderful taste”
