Poison Emergencies, Questions and Prevention Information Call 1-800-222-1222Poison Help 1-800-222-1222 The Utah Poison Control Center (UPCC) is a 24-hour resource for poison information, clinical toxicology consultation and poison prevention education. This free and confidential service is available 365 days a year. TDD is offered for the hearing impaired and translators are available for non-english speaking callers. The UPCC is nationally recognized as a Certified Regional Poison Center by the American Association of Poison Control Centers and is a program of the University of Utah College of Pharmacy.
Call 1-800-221-1222 whenever you are in need of advice or suspect a possible poisoning. They are wonderful.

There are many products which can harm children such as
  • Cleaners (bleach, drain openers, polishes, soaps, detergents, carpet/upholstery cleaners, ammonia, metal cleaners, oven cleaners)
  • Medicines (prescribed or OTC pain relievers, diet pills, allergy and cold meds, vitamins, pet medication, creams and medicines - even those made for children)
  • Cosmetics (aftershave, mouthwash, nail polishes and removers, fluoride rinses, hair products, perfumes and baby powder)
  • House plants (philodendron, dumbcane, pothos) - click here for more info
  • Choking hazards (jewelry, small toys or food, coins, batteries)
  • Other (insect and weed sprays, antifreeze, mothbolls, fertilizer, bug sprays, lighter fluid, gasoline, kerosene)

If you or someone you know sniffed it, ingested it, fell in it, touched it, inhaled it, swallowed it, mixed it, got bit by it, took too much of it or aren't sure what it is, these people have the potential to save your life.
At the very least, they'll allay your fears and wish you a good day.
